Because It Matters In Politics and Government
In partnership with the Collins Center for Public Policy, the Because It Matters advisory committees developed a Fair Campaign Practice Pledge that supports the premise of the Because It Matters civility project and the Civility in Democracy series. We introduce this pledge as one method by which political candidates may facilitate a continual discourse on the vital importance of civility in our lives.
We believe the pledge can be used to keep the issue of civility alive and well within our communities. The adoption of the resolution should be a community building process. We do not suggest using the adoption process to highlight past deficiencies in civility, but rather as a way to look forward. Also, you may want to make this resolution your own by modifying it to personalize the document.
